There is a always a great debate about school uniforms and public schools. There probably always will be because it’s really up to each school district on how they handle the issue.
Parents and teachers debate about this every year and it seems to heat up right around the late summer and early fall. Who is right? Well who knows! There are two sides to every education issue.
On the side with those that want school uniforms:
- Less dress code challenges
- Peer pressure and attire issues – help those kids who get teased a lot because of their clothes.
- Gang attire doesn’t have a place in the public schools.
- Fosters school spirit.
- In a crowd - students or teachers are easily identified.
On the side of those against the school uniforms:
- No self expression
- Students still form groups/cliques.
- They can cost more than some kids regular clothes.
- Not so flattering…
What side are you on? Private schools, boarding schools and military schools use them quite frequently – maybe it’s because they expect a certain behavior out of the children. Or ??? I couldn’t find much in the way of statistics on the behavior aspect.
